*Beginning Oct. 1, 2023 –

Union Pacific will require all regulated employees to report any arrest, citation or conviction for operating a personal motor vehicle while under the influence of, or impaired by, alcohol or controlled substance to their supervisor and the National EAP Helpline (800-779-1212) within 48 hours.

Employees that fail to make this contact will be subject to discipline, including losing an opportunity to work with EAP and maintain their employment relationship with UP. 

Upon reporting, employees will be removed from service and remain on medical leave until compliance with all evaluation and treatment recommendations are met.

The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) § 219.5 defines regulated employees, including, but not limited to:

  • train and engine service employees
